Many of the most important drugs in history such as quinine, morphine and penicillin, are of natural origin. In this project, you will be involved in the isolation and identification of natural products from terrestrial plants with the goal of identifying drug leads to treat human diseases. You will learn techniques to extract and purify natural products using modern techniques, and learn to identify natural products using the most powerful tools in organic molecule structure determination.
