Introduction to UCDP Definitions of Organized Violence
This lecture is a useful tool in understanding the definitions of an armed conflict and the different types of organized violence categorized by the Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) http://ucdp.uu.se/. Some graphs of how many people have been killed in organized violence are illustrated. Furthermore, the lecture covers what secondary support to a party in a conflict means and brings up some frequently asked questions about the conflict encyclopedia. The lecture is used in the teaching at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research in the course module on how to write a Conflict Analysis paper and is recommended for others who may also have an interest in doing a conflict analysis for a specific conflict.
