A degree project in the Drug Delivery and Molecular Pharmaceutics research groups is an exciting opportunity for students to work with leading researchers and experts in the field, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge techniques and technologies. We are involved in a number of national and international collaborations and have been able to match students to projects both within industry and academia.

One part of our research focuses on understanding drug delivery and disposition at the molecular and cellular levels in order to deliver drugs more effectively. We also focus on the distribution and function of important drug-transporting proteins in the human body to understand drug disposition and drug-drug interactions better.

Enabling formulations making use of lipid-based formulations, amorphous materials, mesoporous carriers, and functionalized drug carriers are currently also being explored. Additive manufacturing and 3D printing to produce personalized medicines to improve the treatment and quality of life of severely sick children are one of our main targets.

We have developed and established modeling and simulation as well as AI and machine learning tools for computational pharmaceutics that guide formulation scientists in successful development pathways.

The team also works within pharmaceutical nanotechnology, bridging biomarker discovery, nanomaterial, and drug delivery system engineering for the manufacture of personalized dosage forms.
