Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a state of the art biomedical imaging technique used all over the world for diagnosis of disease, by taking images of the body by a scanner, after administration of a radiolabeled contrast agent.
Insulinoma is a type of neuroendocrine tumor arising in the pancreas. Current diagnostic techniques cannot detect insulinomas sufficiently early, and thus novel PET imaging technologies are under clinical development. Similarly, promising PET tracers are repurposed towards targeted radioligand therapy (RLT) of insulinoma.
This literature review project aims to summarise the preclinical and clinical development of molecular imaging and RLT of inuslinoma.
