The seminar series “Diabetes Plus” is held by the recently-formed Uppsala Diabetes Center (UDC). As the UDC gathers researchers from across all faculties of the university, this seminar series aims to be cross-disciplinary. The “Plus” in the name stands for the addition of something extra, outside the scope of what is normally considered diabetes research. This can be achieved through having two different speakers from two different disciplines at the same seminar, sparking new discussions. Alternatively, single speakers are invited from fields that not normally cover diabetes in their research, but somehow touch the subject such as through general well-being (e.g. mental health, sleep), interesting research models/methods (e.g. imaging, novel registry-based studies), or societal challenges (e.g. policies, health economics).
